About

Born to Read training sessions provide information on best practices in fostering early literacy and related benchmarks of early childhood development. Early childhood educators, volunteers, and other caregivers consistently report that Born to Read trainings give them new ideas for making each reading experience with children stimulating and memorable.

The facilitators who lead these trainings are leaders in the early childhood field in Maine. The size of this training cohort has grown from eight in our pilot year of delivering the Many Eyes, Many Voices training to thirty. In addition to delivering trainings, trainers play an important advisory role in training development and refinement.

Since trainers live all over the state of Maine, it’s difficult for them to stay in touch. They meet once or twice a year to reflect on their experience, exchange ideas, and discuss changes to the trainings. Beyond that, their only communication is via Born to Read staff. This blog is intended to facilitate communication among trainers, in an ongoing effort to enhance the quality of trainings.
